When it Doubt, Stay Home!
In the first post in this series we were talking about doing less outside the home this year. Music lessons, theatre, art class, (no offense M) sports, church on Wednesday, Sundays and Sunday nights. Then there is the Y, swimming lessons, archery, PE, basket weaving, and Latin. Of course there is story time at the library, sign language and American Girls.
Ready for summer yet? Well of course you need a break so then there are the ever popular VBS's in endless number.
Tired yet? I am just listing them.
There are so many GOOD things out there for us to shop our kids too. Yep, I said shop. Or schlep. Or send. It's all the same because once you get outside of God's will, it's all just busy work. Or "dead works" according to scripture.
Titus 2:5 talks about being Keepers at Home but a lot of us could be labeled Keepers Outside the Home. And our home shows it too. When I get too busy my home suffers terribly. Which mean my kids suffer. My husband suffers. And worse, my witness suffers.
So while picking and choosing what we and our kids will be doing outside the home this year, remember that the good is the ENEMY of the excellent. Most things are GOOD but few are EXCELLENT. Choose the most excellent way, even if it means a growing, stretching, sacrifice on our part. Be WITH the kids, your husband, home and God. Turn your hearts toward home where your calling is. And watch the miracle ensue.

Certainly no offense taken... A priority for my children right now is art. Since I am able to teach it, turning their lessons into a little side business makes sense for my family right now. but you know what? If/when they no longer need or want to do art, I probably won't go outside my home to teach it anymore either. Every family must make decisions about priorities....That's one reason why I haven't been at park as much. Aside from the convenience factor of the park change, when R says he wants to sail on Fridays, where do you think I'm going to be? Priorities. They make decisions easier. :o)
Right on sister! And I was saying "no offense" because I didn't mean YOUR art classes in particular but any that are being utilized outside of God's will! You are actually "turning a profit" from home. Not FROM home per se, but the industry is a home based thing. (like my doing massages) and like your other endeavors as well! We'll be speaking more to that in other posts later...
