Years ago before I was even considering homeschooling, I used to refer to homeschoolers as "freaky homeschooling types". You know the type. Long hair, sling wearing, no makeup types.
It wasn't an insult as much as a description.
One day, I BECAME the freaky homeschooling type. Now the word "freak" has morphed into an actual compliment. Funnily enough though, it doesn't SOUND like one does it?
When emailing a friend yesterday I said, "You are a wonderful freak of immense proportion". I told her it was a compliment. The response? "If you say so..." Lol
So I realize that just because I take a word and use it as a compliment doesn't necessarily mean everyone else will take it that way! Sounds like a backhanded compliment doesn't it?
Well, to be clear, it is not. And if you ever feel you've joined the ranks of "freaky homeschooling types" consider yourself in good company!
