While trying to decide if I want to run a marathon in '09, a trainer answered my question "How do I come to such a decision?" with the words:
"You ask yourself, are you interested or committed."
I can't tell you how those words struck me and I have used them every day since in a plethora of circumstances. It is a bit bittersweet though too because it immediately answered my marathon question. Lol
Somehow it just gave real strength and clarity to decision making.
Marathon? Yes, I'm interested. No, I am not committed. Sad but true.
Then I went around with it trying to reason it NOT a good decision making tool because shouldn't one try things that one is interested in but perhaps not(or not yet) committed to?
And I think most of us would agree, yes that can be good too but for me and for this time in my life, I can only DO what I am committed to.I am too busy to dabble right now. ANd this tool helps me not to take on too much. Haha. Well, it is a good leveler anyway.
Having missed so much church due to no where to put Kate, I started to hear myself asking myself this question which the devil loves to play in my head trying to condemn me... but I am happy to report, I am committed to the Lord which is strangely a RELIEF to feel every time the question pops in. I am always wondering about the decision we made and whether it changed our course forever...
I am committed to my family and that has helped prod me back to them day after day when I could be letting other things that I am committed to take over. Yes, I am committed to the magazine, though I HAVE to be and I try not to overthink that because you know, LAW and all that. Lol
So, when trying to make a decision ask yourself....are you interested or committed?

Wow. First of all, as you know I miss all of your blogging so I always get excited to see you posting. This was a good one. There is something new in my life that is giving me great joy and I started to wonder about it, you know, was it worth the time, how seriously did I want to take? and then I read this and thought yep, I'm committed to it, so thanks for this.
If it's anything I know about, I PRAY you are committed!
:)
