It is essential to give people a chance of acting on the truth of God. The responsibility must be left with the individual, you cannot act for him, it must be his own deliberate act, but the evangelical message ought always to lead a man to act. The paralysis of refusing to act leaves a man exactly where he was before; when once he acts, he is never the same. It is the foolishness of it that stands in the way of hundreds who have been convicted by the Spirit of God. Immediately I precipitate myself over into an act, that second I live; all the rest is existence. The moments when I truly live are the moments when I act with my whole will.
Never allow a truth of God that is brought home to your soul to pass without acting on it, not necessarily physically, but in will. Record it, with ink or with blood. The feeblest saint who transacts business with Jesus Christ is emancipated the second he acts; all the almighty power of God is on his behalf. We come up to the truth of God, we confess we are wrong, but go back again; then we come up to it again, and go back; until we learn that we have no business to go back. We have to go clean over on some word of our redeeming Lord and transact business with Him. His word "come" means "transact." "Come unto Me." The last thing we do is to come; but everyone who does come knows that that second the supernatural rush of the life of God invades him instantly. The dominating power of the world, the flesh and the devil is paralysed, not by your act, but because your act has linked you on to God and His redemptive power.

Pumpkin Play
I have gotten a lot of mileage out of the pumpkin playdough that Tif made us last year...here is Kate having a great time of it just yesterday. It is getting a bit crusty and I hope I can get some new soon. (hint hint) but Kate sure did enjoy it! The smell is fantastic! (Hard for little ones not to taste!)
She is getting to SUCH the fun age and we are already plotting (pipedreaming?) all the great ways we are going to school THIS one the RIGHT way! Ha! Better keep M close...her amazing skills and incredible way of homeschooling (which I aspire to) plus my discipline, excitement for life and Biblical training could equal one great maiden of worth! (yeah, yeah, I guess the other ones aren't coming out too bad, I am just SAYIN'!)

Recipe time!
Well, I am going to be sharing some recipes that I try over the next month or so...hope you share some too!
Bread- Now I'm not exactly NEW to breadmaking though I am no expert. But I have discovered through trial and error the softest fluffiest bread ever! We like dense hearty breads normally but I still wanted to be ABLE to make light soft bread..so instead of trying different recipes, I just kept playing with a basic one. Here it is:
Light, fluffy wheat bread
Dissolve 2.5 tsp of yeast in 1/4 cup warm water with a tablespoon or so if honey. Set aside.
Heat 1 cup water with 1 cup milk and two tblsp. butter in microwave for 1 min. or until room temp.
In LARGE bowl put 2 cups flour (1 wheat, 1 white)
Add 1 tsp salt and 3 tblsp brown sugar
Pour in milk mixture and yeast mixture.
Whisk until smooth.
Add remaining cups of flour one at a time (to total around 5 or 6 I usually use white for the rest or just one more cup wheat)
You know the rest...knead the flour in until dough is elastic and smooth. NO sticky areas....add end flour carefully (not too much at a time) so your bread is not dry!)
Now rising is IMPORTANT. DO NOT rush it. Let it rise TWICE and your bread will be fluffy!
I allow all my dough to rise in one bowl for an hour and then I punch down, separate into pans and let rise again.
375 until done and there ya' go! Fluffy bread!
Here is a recipe that I stole from M...she was showing me pics and I was like, WHAT are THOSE???? Why, sausage balls of course! She didn't have the recipe but I looked it up online and the recipes are everywhere. One repeating item was that several recipes urged you to use better quality sausage for optimal results.
EASY and they are in the oven as I speak so I cannot attest to flavor YET!
1 lb sausage (good quality)
2 cups bisquick
10 oz shredded cheese
Mix together, roll into balls the size of a Walnut and bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
They smell awesome! I'll fill you in later! :)
Ok, they are pretty good...kind of...Baptisty! You have to been raised a Baptist to know what that means!

Jesus is the ultimate "green" Savior!
Well, yesterday LFM went as a vendor to the Green Fair...plenty of both sides of the ticket there I was glad to say....
raised as a Democrat and having grown into a conservative...I have to say I would be a liberal conservative on many issues...a small degree to which is the environment.
First let me say I am a believer in DOMINION. That means that I am not the crazy tree-hugger that wouldn't wear fur and opposes drilling in Alaska. No, I love hamburgers and if testing a few animals can one day prevent cancer then I can't really oppose it even if I don't want to see it.
But NO, I do not believe in the torture of slaughtering houses or corralling of baby sheep for the tenderest lamb or inhumane ANYTHING.
I believe Global warming DOES exist...no, it is not God just hugging us a little bit closer, lol and we should protect our planet and it's resources since it is the next best gift we've been given next to Jesus/Salvation.
ANYhoo, so we were at this green fair and of course the OM Bookstore is there. Now, look. I am not judging but this one is hard. They are pedaling satan no matter how you slice it. Extreme? Well, scripture says if you are not FOR God then you are AGAINST Him, so you figure it out.
The OM Bookstore is a new age store. It gathered a lot of interest. People milling about their booth filled with runes, tarot cards, incense, crystals and all things mystical.
And it got me thinking.
As I sat there in all of our "Lake Family Magazine" glory....getting a few looks by the way. (I failed to realize that my sometimes obvious slant in the magazine would be construed by liberals to be anti-everything they are for and CERTAINLY NOT "green") I couldn't help but realize that they were looking for something I already had.
Here they were...loving God's creation in the utmost...but MISSING the truest, most natural part of it all. The ACTUAL artist...the ACTUAL creator.....the REAL DEAL.
They needed crystals, candles, tarot, runes, STUFF to "feel" like they were getting something. Notice how they have to keep coming up with more "stuff"? Because the hole they are looking to fill...the thirst they cannot quench...can never be filled or satisfied with those things.
I was expressing this to Jeff while we were there and he said, Yep, it is like Jesus is such an "easy" answer, that it can't possibly be it.
But it is true. Sometimes I hope we DO get the boot from public school...wouldn't it be cool to be able to print an article like THIS????
Jesus was "Green" before it was cool!
The all-natural savior. No fuss, no muss. Didn't need a crystal or even a cross hanging AROUND his neck...he only needed one to hang ON. Wow. That's heavy.
SACRIFICE is not something new age teaches. It teaches SELF fulfillment...that the power is WITHIN YOU....that if it feels good, DO it.
But Jesus, the one and only savior..was the ultimate "green" guy. Lover of people, children, the earth, minimalism, sacrifice, prevention, love and peace.
The Green Fair was Good...but the Green God? Well, he rocks the greenhouse in my book.
So put that in your hemp pipe and smoke it!

Costume-a-go-go
Spending time with M again (Why do I keep saying M when my blog is closed?)...HOORAY! Of course, little miss OVER ACHIEVER made up these amazing outfits...Raggedy Ann and Fish Man! VERY cool. We had no costumes and after seeing their costumes, my girls went to town. They put these outfits together THEMSELVES in LITERALLY under FIVE MINUTES. 30 hours vs. 5 minutes....any questions? Made me feel like a bad Mom for a minute but we had just as good a time and well, you know...I can't sew!
We went to some church Trunk or Treats...the email about the church function with sandspurs and mosquitos deterred me with a two year old who is mosquito prone and never keeps her shoes on..we had a pretty good time. I do miss reformation day though...the TRUE Oct. 31st Holiday...it is sad that the church will not turn this day around into the Holiday it should be!

UPDATE
Well, after further conversation with my new friend, I was expressing to her that she would have to pick up the next issue in the office of her school as the principal had told us it was too much work for his staff to deliver 800 of these magazines.
She proceeded to tell me that she would count them out and hand deliver each bundle to each classroom and them hand them out there as well.
We always have a choice in how we act and how we respond to others.
God's way sure did PROVE out to be fruitful!! We don't always get to see it but this time we did! Woohoo!
